Overview

Students interested in supplementing their education and experience may choose to pursue the Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management. This program can be completed entirely online and provides specialized knowledge of resource development, strategic planning, program evaluation and volunteerism. The certificate supports those who currently work in, or are looking for advancement in, the nonprofit sector or in organizations that partner with the nonprofit sector.

Curriculum

The graduate certificate in nonprofit management curriculum consists of 18 credit hours, including 15 credit hours of core courses and three credit hours of electives. The core courses are listed below.

This course covers volunteer development in nonprofit organizations, including board selection, development and leadership, volunteer recruitment, training, retention and theories of motivation, leadership and ethical issues.

Admissions and Advising

Prospective students seeking enrollment in the Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management should submit the following for consideration:

  • An official, sealed transcript of each college or university attended, showing a GPA of 2.5 or better
  • A current resume
  • A goal statement, no longer than two pages, addressing the following:
    • What is your reason for pursuing this certificate and how does it fit into your future goals and plans?
    • What specific areas of nonprofit management interest you?
    • What previous work experience do you have in the field?
