Holmes Scholars

Holmes Scholars are a select network of doctoral students preparing for careers in the higher education professorate. Established in 1991, the National Holmes Scholars Network is designed to enrich the scholarly experiences and professional connections of talented men and women from underrepresented groups in universities and colleges. The home of the Holmes Scholars Program is the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE). This unique program provides mentoring, peer support and rich professional development opportunities for doctoral students, and helps institutions increase the diversity of their faculty by developing an outstanding pool of candidates for faculty and other leadership positions.

At the University of Central Florida, Holmes Scholars are supported by the College of Community Innovation and Education and provided with access to dedicated study and meeting space within the college. Holmes Scholars also have the opportunity to work with the university's partners and professional development schools throughout central Florida.

The University of Central Florida is committed to providing leadership opportunities, ensuring that scholars successfully complete their programs of study, and encouraging Holmes Scholars alumni to become leaders in their respective fields.
