The College of Community Innovation and Education supports the mission of Faculty Excellence to support and strengthen faculty through recruitment, development, and retention of outstanding scholars and educators.

Committees

Each academic unit is asked to elect representatives to college committees listed below. Please review the eligibility requirements.

College Committee List

Council and Committee Eligibility Requirements

Faculty Council
All instructional faculty are eligible. The council should consist of an elected representative from each department and school of the college and one representative whose primary appointment is on one of the area campuses.

Graduate Council
The council shall consist of a representative from each academic unit program with preference for faculty members coordinating graduate degree programs.

Undergraduate Committee
Each academic unit (school or department) should designate a representative with preference for faculty members coordinating undergraduate degree programs.

Honors in the Major Committee

Promotion and Tenure Committee – College Level
The committee shall consist of one (1) tenured faculty member at the rank of professor from each department or school. If no tenured professor is available in the department or school, then a tenured associate professor may serve in this role but not participate or vote in discussions relating to full professors. An alternate must be elected in the event that a regular committee member is unable to serve. Faculty members serving on the department or school promotion and tenure committee may not serve on the college promotion and tenure committee.

Service term: Two (2) academic years

Promotion and Tenure Committee – Unit Level
The committee chair shall be a member of the promotion and tenure committee elected by majority vote of its members. The chair must be a tenured faculty member at the rank of professor.

Instructor and Lecturer Promotion and Tenure Committee- College Level
The committee shall consist of at least three (3) instructors or lecturers at or above the rank being sought by the candidate and four (4) tenure earning or tenured faculty, or clinical faculty at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor. No more than two members of this committee may be from the same department/unit. Faculty members serving on the department or school instructor and lecturer committee may not serve on the college instructor and lecturer committee.

Service term: No more than 2 consecutive years

Research Committee
Members of this committee must have had extramural grant and/or contract funding within the past five years.

RIA PEER Review Committee
The committee members cannot be a RIA applicant. It is suggested that preference be given to RIA award winners in the past five years.

Sabbatical Committee
Committee members must be a tenured faculty member. Members cannot be a sabbatical applicant.

TIP Selection Committee
Members of this committee cannot be a TIP applicant. It is suggested that preference be given to TIP award winners in the past five years.

Faculty Awards

Research Incentive Award

The UCF Research Incentive Awards (RIA) program supports outstanding research, scholarly and creative activity that advances the body of knowledge in a particular field, including interdisciplinary research and collaborations. See RIA Committee Workshop Information.

Teaching Incentive Program

The University of Central Florida’s Teaching Incentive Program (TIP) rewards teaching productivity and excellence. See TIP Committee Workshop Information.

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award

The UCF Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) awards recognize discovery, reflection and using evidence-based methods to research effective teaching and student learning.

Pegasus Professor Award

The UCF Pegasus Professor Award (In-Unit | Non-Unit) honors and rewards highly successful teaching, research, creative activity and service accomplished by senior members of the university faculty.

Research for the Stars

The UCF Reach for the Stars Award honors and rewards highly successful research and creative activity accomplished by early-career university professionals.

Trustee Chair Award

Trustee Chair awards were established to retain outstanding UCF faculty as well as attract exceptional faculty to UCF.

Annual Evaluation Standards and Procedures (AESP)

Unit criteria and adoption dates for Annual Evaluation Standards and Procedures (AESP) are listed below. Units are responsible for reviewing criteria on a regular basis and begin no later than five (5) years after the adoption or most recent review. The Annual Evaluation Standards and Procedures Review Request form along with the criteria, in Word format, must be submitted for review.
