The Methodology, Measurement, and Analysis (MMA) track in the College of Community Innovation and Education is designed to prepare methodologists in education, social sciences, and human sciences for careers in academia, independent consulting and practice, or non-profit/government research. Students are taught both quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches that can be applied to a variety of fields, such as statistical consulting, data analysis, psychometrics, and program evaluation.
The MMA track offers two degrees, a Ph.D. and Ed.D., and a certificate to allow students to choose the level of methodological expertise that best suits their interests and career goals. The Ph.D. is best suited for those seeking positions that focus on statistical consulting, developing statistics, or assessing educational tests and is recommended for students interested in academic careers. The Ed.D. and certificate track are best for those who want to work as program evaluators or in positions where strong methodological skills are required (e.g., applied researchers). The certificate is also appropriate for students in doctoral programs outside MMA that plan to pursue academic careers and desire a credential that speaks to competency in advanced quantitative statistical methods (i.e., value added to current and/or potential employers).

The Educational Program Evaluation graduate certificate focuses on program evaluation related to the field of education but will be broad-based enough to be useful for students from all disciplines. This program will help learners enhance their positions in the evaluation community, help them pursue careers in evaluation, and improve the general state of knowledge in program evaluation.

Four major areas are encompassed in this program: quantitative research, qualitative research, measurement, and program evaluation.
