Olga Lucia Russell
Health Management and Informatics
Olga Lucia Russell is an instructor in the health informatics and information management program. She has ample experience working in large hospital facilities in coding, rebuttals, pre-bill auditing, and clinical documentation improvement. She has educated coders in the hospital setting, educated nurses and physicians in clinical documentation improvement, and participated in several physician medical department meetings as a presenter in diverse CDI topics.
She graduated with her M.D. from the Colombian School of Medicine/El Bosque University and also from the physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program from the Santa Fe Foundation/El Bosque University Program with an exchange practice at Gillette’s Children Hospital in Minnesota. She worked with PROPACE and CIREC, coordinating the care of disabled children and violence victims. She also trained residents in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
She moved to the United States where she graduated from the health informatics and information management program at UCF. She also her master's degree and a certificate in managed care from UCF. She has both AHIMA and RHIA credentials and she is also certified as an approved AHIMA ICD-10 trainer.
In addition, she has 15 years of teaching experience as an associate instructor at Valencia College teaching diverse courses, including Introduction to Body Systems, Basic and Advanced Coding, and also the Capstone. She is also a member of their OST advisory board.
