Sherri Dixon began her career at Valencia College in the fall of 1986 as a temporary employee, received full-time status June 1988 and retired from Valencia in January 2016. During her time at Valencia, she held many positions, starting as a temporary accounts payable specialist, secretary/bookkeeper of the library, grants accounting specialist, director of restricted accounting, budget director and retired as the assistant vice president of budget and auxiliary services. During this time, she has managed and development budgets in excess of $180 million, overseen 80 plus local, state and federal grants and with a co-worker developed grants compliance for the college.
While at Valencia, she served and chaired many committees, including the Professional Leadership Team, the Staff and Program Development Committee, students with disability advisory group, the Budget Finance Advisory Group, the reassign time design committee, the Strategic Equipment Committee, the Sick Leave Committee, and the Strategic Budget Initiative Committee. She also served as chair of Valencia's chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges, and served in an advisory role to senior staff, the executive council, faculty compensation, resource development, and foundation hospitality funding.
While working full-time and raising a family, Dixon earned three degrees: Associate of Science in Accounting from Valencia Community College; Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida Southern College and a Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in Governmental Management from Keller Graduate School of DeVry University.
During her spare time, Dixon is the vice chair of Lake Eola Charter School, where she also has the designation of founding family, board of directors; is the vice president of Future Rebels Fastpitch which has assisted 81 females in obtaining college scholarships; and a founding member of The Youth Foundation for Tomorrows Future.
