Professional Summary

Dr. John T. Super teaches counseling classes in theory, family theory and practice, human sexuality in mental health, and application/practice in a practicum format. Also at UCF, he coordinates the operations of the CCRC.

He earned his doctoral degree in counselor education and his master’s degrees in marriage, couples and family counseling from the University of Central Florida in Counselor Education. Dr. Super is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and is a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Dr. Super specializes in working with individuals with a variety of issues, often centering on issues with their sexuality or grief, and couples that have been impacted by relational distress. Dr. Super’s primary research interests include: 1) the religious abuse of LGBT individuals; 2) the development of counselor self-efficacy in counselors-in-training and 3) the trauma a community experiences after an act of violence. Dr. Super has been active in the areas of research, teaching and service and has served on the Human Rights and Awards Committee for the American Counseling Association.
