Graduate Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Public Policy Analysis is the newest program to be offered at the School of Public Administration, debuting in fall 2018. The curriculum allows students to explore the areas of policy that interests them the most including tax policy, health policy, transportation policy, immigration policy or economic policy. This certificate is also designed to complement the curriculum of the Master of Public Administration.

Curriculum

The Graduate Certificate in Public Policy and Analysis requires 18 credit hours beyond the bachelor’s degree, including two elective courses and the following four required courses. For more information on the curriculum, please visit the UCF Graduate Catalog.

Analysis of the role of the public administrator in the analysis, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of public policies, especially at the state and local levels.
Offered in fall, spring and summer
Program analysis and organization structure as policy tools, examining the implementation of differential policy and the administrator as policy maker and change agent.
Offered occasionally
Economic concepts, relationships, and methods of analysis that are relevant for public sector management decisions and policy analysis, usefulness of economic analysis in public sector decision making.
Offered in fall, spring and summer
This class covers the techniques and skills utilized in the evaluation of public programs.

Admissions and Advising

Prospective students seeking enrollment in the Graduate Certificate in Public Policy Analysis should submit the following for consideration:

  • An official, sealed transcript of each college or university attended, showing a GPA of 2.5 or better
  • A current resume
  • A goal statement, no longer than two pages, addressing the following:
    • What is your reason for pursuing this certificate and how does it fit into your future goals and plans?
    • What specific areas of public policy interest you?
    • What previous work experience do you have in the field?
