If the data you are using meets at least one of the following criteria, IRB will likely consider your research to fall into their "non-human subjects" research category. If none of the below apply to your study, please return to the IRB Decision Guide page.

  • Publicly available data
  • Existing data with previous IRB approval
  • The focus of the project is only on products, methods, policies, procedures, organizations. For example, interviewing teachers about policies and procedures or teaching methods.

All you need to submit to IRB is form HRP 250 and the IRB application in HURON. Attach form HRP 250 when you get to this part of the application:
