Biography

Dr. Elizabeth Hoffman is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in the College of Community Innovation and Education, School of Teacher Education. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education at UCF as well as her Ph.D. in Education and has been a Teacher Educator at UCF since 2006. Dr. Hoffman teaches a variety of courses in the Elementary Education program and advises and mentors the program’s teacher candidates. Her passion is helping future teachers learn how to effectively engage their students in learning, especially through the use of quality children’s literature.

My service philosophy as a faculty member of UCF’s College of Community Innovation and Education in the School of Teacher Education is rooted in a commitment to enhancing the overall excellence of the university, my department, and our teacher candidates. I believe that active participation and collaborative efforts are essential to creating a thriving academic community.

I am dedicated to contributing my expertise and energy to advance the university's mission and strategic initiatives. Whether through committee work, program development, or academic leadership roles, I seek to support the university's growth by aligning my contributions with its goals and values.
Within my department, I am committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, communication, and innovation. I actively engage in curricular development, mentorship of colleagues, and participation in departmental activities that promote student success.

I am also dedicated to being an accessible and approachable mentor for our teacher candidates who encourages open communication and a sense of belonging. By tailoring my guidance to individual needs, I aim to inspire a love for lifelong learning, critical thinking, and innovative teaching practices. I am committed to fostering a growth mindset, where challenges are seen as opportunities for development and reflection.

In summary, my service philosophy revolves around a steadfast dedication to elevating the excellence of the university, my department, and the experiences of our teacher candidates. Through active engagement, collaboration, and a focus on mentorship, I aim to contribute to the growth and success of all in our academic community.
