Biography

Dr. Mark A. Winton joined the Department of Criminal Justice in 2001. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Connecticut and is a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Forensic Counselor, and National Certified Counselor. He teaches various courses including Criminal Profiling, Serial Murder, Genocide, Terrorism, Sex Crimes, Hate Crimes, and Mental Disorders and Crime. He has co-authored two books and published articles in Homicide Studies, International Journal of Public Policy, The Qualitative Report, Criminal Justice Review, Aggression and Violent Behavior, Child Abuse and Neglect, and the International Journal of Group Psychotherapy. He was also interviewed for the documentary Why They Kill: The Creation of Dangerous Violent Criminals.
