After 26 years of service in the United States Navy, I retired and moved to Central Florida. While in the Navy, I served as a Hospital Corpsman with a certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Upon earning my Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University, I was commissioned as a Medical Service Corps Officer. In that role, I served as a Medical Planner, a Patient Administration Officer, Department Head of Human Resources and Chief Operating Office of a Navy Medical Clinic. Arriving in Central Florida, I went on to serve as the Administrator for Medicine and Surgery Services at the Orlando VA Medical Center. In 2012, I was hired by the University of Central Florida as an Instructor for the Health Management and Informatics Department.

Service
I have been involved in many service activities at a variety of levels within the University, the College of Community Innovation and Education and the School of Global Health Management and Informatics. Early in my career as an educator I found that it was important to get involved; first at the department of level and grow into the college and university levels. I have been involved in a variety of departmental service activities. The departmental service activities that were most gratifying and educational to me were the opportunities I had to serve on search committees.
Understanding the need to participate in service activities based on my experience at the University, I have branched out to National committees where I am a member of professional level healthcare organizations and academic groups. Finally, at the local level I routinely participate in the teach in program for Orange County Public Schools has every year. Overall, I am pleased that I have been afforded the opportunity to provide service to the school, the college, the university and the local community.
