Biography
Dr. Aksha is a visiting research assistant professor in the School of Public Administration at the National Center for Integrated Coastal Research at University of Central Florida. His research interests lie at the intersection of natural hazards and society, including the application of geospatial analysis and modeling techniques to understand physical and social dimensions of disasters. He holds a PhD in Geospatial and Environmental Analysis from Department of Geography at Virginia Tech and two MS degrees in Risk and Environmental Hazards, and Environmental Science. From 2009-2012, he worked at International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), a Kathmandu-based regional inter-governmental organization working in eight countries of Hindu Kush Himalayan region, on multiple projects primarily on sustainable development, disaster preparedness, climate change adaptation, and knowledge management under various capacities.
