Tamara Preston is a current Educational Leadership MEd student. Preston is part of the Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) Cohort. She says the connections she is cultivating in the program and the high-quality instruction she’s received so far are why she recommends UCF to anyone hoping to pursue a graduate degree in educational leadership.

How did you cultivate connections and build professional relationships throughout your program?

Having the same professors for multiple courses has made it easy to adapt to their instructional styles and build strong relationships with them. They are always accessible via email or phone to address any questions or concerns, which makes the learning experience even more supportive. Additionally, being in a cohort with classmates who also work in the same school district is incredibly beneficial. We share similar work experiences, which allow us to relate to one another on a deeper level. Together, we form study groups, exchange resources and support each other throughout the program, creating a collaborative and encouraging environment.

Would you recommend UCF to other potential graduate students?

I highly recommend UCF to anyone pursuing a graduate degree in educational leadership. This program not only delivers high-quality instruction, it provides a comprehensive and practical learning experience tailored to prepare future leaders in education. The coursework, combined with the support of experienced professors and a collaborative cohort, has equipped me with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to successfully transition into a leadership role.
