Just like educators who teach at the elementary and secondary levels, Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers also need to complete the professional teaching certification process. Florida statutes require both full-time non-degreed and degreed CTE teachers to complete professional education training through coursework that addresses teaching methods, course construction, lesson planning and evaluation, and teaching special needs students. These four areas of coursework fulfill CTE teacher certification requirements — and they’re available online through UCF.

While the required courses are part of our online Career and Technical Education bachelor’s degree program, we also offer them fully online for non-degree-seeking students as a courtesy to Florida’s school districts. Our tuition-based, college-credit courses are offered once per year and align with the UCF Academic Calendar’s semester terms. You’ll gain a foundation for the principles of career and technical education as you learn how to create, structure and evaluate courses in your choice of three concentrations: industrial, health occupations or business education. By the time you complete all four courses, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running as a CTE teacher.
