Biography

Debaleena Majumdar, Ph.D., is a lecturer in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Central Florida, where she teaches geographic information systems, environmental science and sustainability.

She received her doctorate from Arizona State University, with a focus on energy and environmental planning. Majumdar has developed and taught graduate and undergraduate courses on GIS and remote sensing, sustainability, urban planning, and environmental science at Arizona State, Carnegie Mellon University and UMass Global.

Her research focuses on GIS and remote sensing, energy planning, environmental planning, spatial data analysis, land use and land cover analysis, data analytics, and data visualization. She has also participated in projects with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the Ministry of Urban Development in New Delhi, India, and the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. in Kolkata, India.
