Yes, if you want to have a separate certificate issued.

As this program is differentiated based on the background of each graduate student, it is relevant for gifted and talented students in any setting.
Do I need to be teaching to take these courses?
No; however, we recommend students who are not actively teaching engage in field experiences in schools or programs serving gifted students.
Is the UCF gifted education graduate certificate relevant for out-of- state students?
Our program is offered fully online, and it aligns with the standards set by NAGC/CEC. It is relevant for out-of- state students. However, as each state has its own stipulations for gifted education endorsement, applicants should consult with their resident state regarding receiving credit.
Is the program relevant for international students?
The program supports the infusion of comparative and international education of gifted and talented learners and the development of global citizenship.
Can undergraduates take these courses?
Undergraduates are permitted to register for one course as an elective if they are seniors.
Do you have to have a teaching certificate to take these courses?
No, but you do need a baccalaureate degree.

Yes, parents who are already admitted to UCF for a specific program for credit can register for a course. Parents can also consider applying to UCF as a non-degree-seeking student. Refer to the College of Graduate Studies for admission criteria.
