What is the recommended sequence for taking the courses?

While the above sequence is highly recommended as the courses increase in complexity and depth across the semesters, the sequence is not a requirement and students can take courses out of sequence.

Will I be able to complete the program in one year?

Yes.

Is the program offered online?

The program is fully online.  Students who are not familiar with learning online can consult the tutorials available at learn.ucf.edu.

Are the courses taken at the District level accepted for credit in this program?

No.

If I am taking the Gifted Track in the Masters in Curriculum and Instruction do I need to register for the Gifted Education Certificate as well?

YES, if you want to have a separate certificate issued.

Is this program relevant for teachers in private schools or out of school services?

As this program differentiated according to the context, background of each participant, it is relevant for gifted and talented students in any setting.

Do I need to be teaching to take these courses?

No.  The program does recommend field experiences in schools or programs serving gifted students.

Is this program relevant for out of state students?

As this program is online, and in line with the standards set by NAGC/CEC it is relevant for out of state students.  However, as each state has its own stipulations for gifted education endorsement, applicants should consult with their resident state regarding receiving credit.

Is the program relevant for international students?

The program supports the infusion of comparative and international education of gifted and talented learners and the development of global citizenship.

Can undergraduates take these courses?

Undergraduates are permitted to register for one course as an elective if they are seniors.

Do you have to have a teaching certificate to take these courses?

No.  You do need a baccalaureate degree.

Unless parents are already admitted to UCF for a specific program for credit, parents can be admitted as a Nondegree applicant.
