Biography

Dr. Viki P. Kelchner is an associate professor of counselor education in the UCF Department of Counselor Education and School Psychology. She completed her doctoral studies in counselor education and supervision at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Kelchner has served as a school-based family counselor and a school counselor in South Carolina. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Professional Supervisor, a National Board Certified Counselor and a Certified School Counselor. Dr. Kelchner’s research interests focus on supporting high needs youth and families through school-based family services, intervention programs and individuals and families with unique abilities. At UCF, she leads the team SUPER, Supporting Unique Abilities through Partnership, Education and Research. She has developed a partnership with Inclusive Education Services and the Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida to support the mental health needs of youth, families and college students with Unique Abilities. Dr. Kelchner is active with multiple professional organizations and serves as the President of the Florida Association of Marriage and Family Counseling.
