Dr. Ergle’s doctoral research in 2008 focused on gender and literacy and explored causes of the large achievement gap on writing tests between boys and girls in 4th, 8th and 10th grades.

Since then, her research has evolved with her focus on the support and development of preservice teachers and the changing instructional strategies and classroom management needed for the 21st century classroom, whether brick and mortar or virtual.

With an international focus on education, Dr. Ergle is currently exploring the impact of international internships on preservice teachers’ view of American education systems and on personal teaching philosophies.
