Department of Counselor Education & School Psychology

The Department of Counselor Education and School Psychology prepares students for careers as mental health counselors, marriage, couple and family therapists, school counselors, school psychologists and counselor educators. Through strong partnerships with public schools, non-profit organizations, and community agencies and centers, the department provides students with multiple opportunities to engage in embedded field experiences, internships and research.

The Department of Learning Sciences and Educational Research is an interdisciplinary department focusing on the application of psychological theories and research addressing how people learn; how educators can meet the needs of diverse advanced, gifted, and talented learners; the design and application of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research methodologies, measurement, and program evaluation; and the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative instructional methodologies and programs in K-12, higher education, and business and industry settings.

The School of Teacher Education provides quality professional education programs to students entering careers as educators and trainers, and to practicing teachers seeking to enhance their professional knowledge and skills through advanced studies. STE offers undergraduate and graduate degree options in the following program areas: early childhood development and education, elementary education, exceptional student education and secondary education, which includes art, English language arts, mathematics education, physical education, science education and world languages education. Additionally, several graduate certificate programs are available.
