Dr. Suman Acharya is a postdoctoral scholar in the School of Public Administration at the Resilient, Intelligent, and Sustainable Energy Systems (RISES) Center at University of Central Florida. As an environmental anthropologist, forester, and climate scientist, Dr. Acharya’s research explores the human dimensions of environmental changes, differential vulnerability, multilevel adaptation governance, theories of power and collective action, energy and environmental policy, and social-ecological systems, aiming to understand the dynamic relationship between community and environment for sustainability. Currently he is broadening his research to disaster risk reduction, emergency management, and urban resiliency by linking these issues along with climate change issues. From 2017 to 2018, he served as the District Climate Change Specialist for the Adaptation for Smallholders in Hilly Areas (ASHA) project and has held various roles in multiple organizations throughout Nepal over the years. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences (JESS) and actively consults for various institutions in both Nepal and the USA that focus on climate change adaptation.
